Prof Luo's research focuses on intelligent sensing and networking methods for Earth observations to address complex environmental challenges. His research has attracted over £12.5 million in external funding from UKRI, Horizon Europe, Innovate UK, and the Royal Society, including coordination of large-scale EU-funded projects. His work greatly benefits from collaborative research with leading research institutes, including the Plymouth Marine Laboratory, the Met Office, IBM, BT, Ordnance Survey, Thales etc
