Challenges
Transforming the narrative around the environment from one of crisis to one of innovation, opportunity and hope
Environmental Intelligence (EI) has a critical role to play in understanding and navigating the challenges of a changing world, through provision of actionable intelligence and data-driven solutions to enhance resilience and sustainability.
EI can be deployed across a range of key environmental and socio‑economic challenge areas, including:
• Climate & weather monitoring and forecasting;
• Natural hazards & risk assessment for events such as floods, fires, and storms;
• Protecting biodiversity, ecosystems & nature;
• Informing sustainable land‑use planning and;
• Utilising earth observation, remote sensing & geospatial intelligence to understand environmental change at scale.
• Supporting better management of water systems, agriculture & food systems, and energy systems;
• Strengthening the planning, operation, and adaptation of infrastructure;
• Underpinning wider resilience to environmental shocks and long‑term change and;
• Providing the technical foundations for effective environmental data use, including AI-enabled data integration, analytics, modelling, and decision‑support tools.
